Jacob

Jacob is a fellow University of Illinois alum.  He graduated with his degree in engineering physics and a minor in secondary education, and later returned to UIUC for his masters degree in physics with a minor in college teaching.  Jacob has been teaching various math and engineering courses at Chicago State University for the past four years, and recently joined Daley College’s Physical Sciences and Engineering Department as a lecturer for Astronomy courses.

In addition to his experience in higher education, Jacob also teaches at a large public school on the Southwest side of Chicago, as part of the Chicago Public Schools District.  There, Jacob works as the school’s bilingual physics teacher where he teaches Spanish Physics.  Recently, Jacob has created and now teaches two newer course offerings: A.P. Physics 1 for juniors and A.P. Physics C for seniors.

When Jacob is not teaching, he enjoys working out and spending time with his family and friends.

“My passion lies in providing my fellow Latinx students with high quality, rigorous physics instruction that will help prepare them for success in their post-secondary education.  It is important to me that my students reach their full potential regardless of their backgrounds.  I want my students to view themselves as competent scientists, engineers, and mathematicians and that they feel a sense of confidence and belonging in these prestigious environments after their time in my classroom.”
