Kay earned her MS in Chemical and Biomedical Engineering and MAT from National Louis University. A National Board Certified Science Teacher, Kay has taught physics (on-track and AP) and two Project Lead the Way Engineering electives (all courses which she founded) at a large public high school in the Chicago suburbs for 15 years. In addition to her work as a high school teacher, Kay also founded and taught Summer School Independent Science Research Class, and serves as Adjunct Faculty at a local community college, co-teaching a Dual Credit Biotechnical Engineering Course in collaboration with the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at a neighboring private research university in Chicago. Kay is committed to offering transformative experiences for students interested in science research and engineering - in turn, she has participated in the Exemplary Student Research Program with Argonne for several years, and acted as a sponsor of Engineering Club and Science Olympiad. When she is not teaching, Kay loves traveling. An International traveler, Kay has visited 53 countries and counting!
